'Sthree'

We decided to go for a walk today and visit some of the shops not too far from us.. We found this amazing shop that has some fun things in it.

'Sthree' means women in both Tamil and Sinhala.

Everything is handmade. The purpose of Sthree is to provide an outlet to sell quality items, made by women from disadvantaged backgrounds and people living with disabilities. Everything you purchase goes to help these women.

As we were looking around we were given a tour of the loom.

This young lady took the time to give us a demonstration. Boy was she super fast on the loom.

Every thread is counted before they begin. That way they know what pattern they are going to weave.

Next thing we were shown the kitchen. They are just getting the restaurant going.

You have to make reservations first. So we are planning on going back and have some Sri Lankan food.

This was a wall hanging that was hand painted that we bought.

Another rainy day. This is what happens when it is rainy outside and you need to dry your clothes. Takes a lot longer for them to get dry.
