Last night we were able to stay at President and Sister Mortensen's home along with Elder and Sister Lee. What a treat to have Sister Mortensen make waffles for us. I love waffles but don't get them in Sri Lanka. It was a blessing to be in their home and feel their love.
Picture of their living room.
The first floor of the Mission Home has offices and a Distribution Store.
We walked to the top of the Mission Home and took this picture looking at Bangaluru.
As you can see there are many buldings.
This is the Church House next door to the Mission Home.
President Mortensen visited with each missionary. We then met as a group and discussed our needs and what we need to do. As a group we are focusing on strengthening our leaders.
After our meeting with President Mortensen and a quick lunch it was time to head to the airport. This is what we saw along the way.
We saw a few tent cities.
The weather was bringing in a dust storm. You could really feel the dust in your eyes.
As we were getting our boarding passes we had quite an experience. We were bringing back to Sri Lanka two new Elders. One was born in Sri Lanka but because of some family persecution and family members being killed his family fled to Thailand when he was young. There they joined the church then eventually moved to the United States. At the age of 19 he received his mission call to serve in India. He has asked if he could finish his mission in Sri Lanka. So that is how he ended up with us going back to his roots.
This Elder had a one way flight ticket to Sri Lanka. His visa is only good for 1 month. So he needed a ticket for the flight home. Luckily we listened to the prompting to stay and help. We were able to purchase a flight ticket back, get the boarding pass, run to the check station and make it in time to catch the flight home.
We sure do see miracles happen everyday.
Off we go in the wild blue yonder!
Great trip home. I didn't get sick!
