Harvesting Rice!

Had an adventure of learning how to harvest rice.

You take the sharp rice knife and grab a bunch of stalks and cut them.

After cutting your bunch you throw them into piles to be gathered up.

Some men working out in the rice paddys.

They are a lot faster than us.

They can endure the heat better than us. We lasted long enough to take pictures. 😄

Here comes President Nihal (Branch President of The Colombo 2nd Branch). He is all decked out in his orange boots.

This is how you do it President!

The tarps are ready to put the bunches of rice onto.

This rice has been grown by a lady in the Branch. The rice has been raised without any insecticides or pesticides. Very impressive!

The lady in red is the one who is growing the rice. The gentleman she is honoring has developed the rice that grows without using pesticides and insecticides. He has been honored as Farmer of the year for 8 years.

We were lucky to be part of this group.
