'To the Rescue'

President Thomas S. Monsoon passed away Tuesday evening. Which was Wednesday morning here in Sri Lanka. He was 90 years old and the 16th President of the LDS church.

A personal story we had with President Monson was at Disneyland. He wasn't the prophet at that time but was a counselor. This was the first year  that 'splash mountain' had opened and we wanted to get there as fast as we could. We arrived early to wait in lines at Disney's Main Street. The street was packed with other guests waiting to get in too. While we were standing in line we noticed a very tall person. It was President Monson! The Disney announcer was speaking over the intercom about no running or pushing. To be safe and have fun. Soon we were moving in the direction to ride 'splash mountain'. We were walking and trying to follow the rules when we noticed President Monson walking very quickly with his long legs to splash mountain, leaving behind his body guards. Ken looked at me and the kids and said if he can run so could we. So away we went to ride 'splash mountain'. What a fun memory we have of him.

He taught us many lessons through his example. Especially of going 'to the rescue'. We will miss him but know he is celebrating with his wife and others that have gone before. Thanks President Monson for being a wonderful prophet!
