This is how most lawns get mowed, using a weed whacker. This is the grass in front of our church. Most homes don't have grass here. We have only seen one lawn mower the whole time that we have been here.
Visited with this cute family today.
Today we started out having breakfast with the Lathens. They left early this morning to go visit some branch members and the do some sight seeing.
We taught at the University. The students are starting to talk to us more. There is one cute girl that always talks to us. She is so polite, she addresses us as 'madam' and 'sir'. After she is finished talking she always asks if it is okay for her to leave.
On her birthday she brought Ken a candy bar. This girl brings a ray of sunshine to us everytime we see her. We sure enjoy these students and how they are trying to learn English.
One thing we have found that helps is to write down the English name and they tell us how to spell it in Sinhala. Here are a few that we discussed today;
Father - Thaththa
Mother - Amma
Grandfather - Seeya
Grandmother - Achchi
Daughter - Dhuwa
Son - Putha
One thing we have learned is the 'th' sound in Sinhala is 't'.
Oh do we have a lot to learn. 😄
