Today the students at the University of Peradeniya performed their dramas. The students have been taking the English Intensive Course for the past four weeks. We have been able to be a part of the teaching. The students are trying very hard to learn English. This picture they are setting up for the program.
Here we are in their gymnasium getting ready for the concert.
Before the concert they have a lighting ceremony. When they were making the announcements I thought I heard my name but thought no it just sounded like my name. Sure enough they came over and told me to go over for the ceremony. Each person there took turns passing a candle then lighting candles on the statue. I felt very honored. We feel that we have been very accepted by the staff and the Arts Department.
First drama they performed was called, "Destiny or ..." It was about the mosquitos and spreading the dengue illness.
Next performance these students sang, "Moon Shadow."
This group sang and danced to, "Heal the World, Love Me Like You Do, and Why This Kolaveri."
This group sang and danced to, "A Thousand Years, Shape of You, and Under the Mango Tree."
This drama, "Love Can Move Mountains." No matter what race, color or background love can win.
They sang and danced to, "Brown Girl and Holiday."
A drama called, "A Psychiatric Hospital." These young men played doctors but they were really psych patients.
This drama was called, "Rathnavali."
We enjoyed the concert. The University half way through passed out lunch packets and drinks to everyone. I was very impressed with all that they do here. 🤗🤗
