#LightTheWorld - Day 25, December 25, 2017

Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Jesus is the Light of the World, but every person can shine his or her own light into the world. Follow Christ's example and be a light in the lives of those around you this Christmas Season and all year long.

The best gift we received this year was skyping talking to family!

Merry Christmas from the Kandy Branch!

Christmas day the Kandy Branch celebrated Christmas at the church. We arrived around 10:00 to help with the final touches.

People arriving and making sure everything is ready to go.

We had a very good turn out. Many visitors and people who hadn't been to church for along time came today!

I think the people here in Sri Lanka are so beautiful. This gentleman brought his grandchildren, they call him papa.

To start the program we sang a Christmas Joy to the World. I gave a talk about the  Christmas Orange. Then each auxiliary presented a skit, song, or dance.

The Rider's Quorum did a skit from Revelations.

The primary sang songs.

The Relief Society presented the skit of the Saviors birth.

The Young Women did some dancing and the Young Adults sang some Christmas Songs.

One thing that is a tradition here is during the entertainment they serve cake and drinks. Ken always said to eat dessert first.

Look who is leading the music for all the men! 😲 You never know what talents come out while serving a mission. 😉

After the entertainment Santa Claus comes in. He is a little different than in the United States. He comes in with his sack but he also has a bunch of balloons that he is holding.

Once he is inside the kids go crazy and Santa throws candy out into the audience. Everyone is scrambling around getting candy.

Santa getting ready to hand out gifts.

When all the candy is gathered Santa helps President Kumara hand out Christmas gifts to every family.

Santa is all finished for the day. After Santa it was time to eat. We had rice, chicken and curry and vegetables. It was one of the best food packets I have had so far.

After lunch and cleaning up it was time to do some dancing. We stayed until about 3:00 then went back to our apartment. The Elders and Brother Shantha came over so they could write their letters.

At 6:00 we went to Brother Myrons home for dinner. His step daughter loves to make cakes. This was the cake she made for Christmas.

Brother Myron and His family and neighbors.

These young girls are in the International School. They sang Christmas Songs in English for us.

Santa even followed us to Brother Myrons home.

He gave each of us a chocolate Santa.

It was a great Christmas away from home. One I won't forget.

On the way home we decided to all ride in Brother Shanthas 3 wheeler. So we piled four of us in the back seat. Well we got stopped by the police. Good thing the Elders were so kind and Brother Shantha was legal. They were checking for drunk drivers.

Made it home in time to call the kids to see what Santa left each of them.
