Party All Day! November 18, 2017
We know that November isn't the Relief Society's birthday, but it doesn't matter how late you celebrate. The District Relief Society planned a very special day of celebrating. The theme this year was, We Serve the Lord Together.
The ladies really spent a lot of time decorating and preparing for the event. You'll notice that we use the chapel as a multi purpose room.
More decorations! They even put fancy covers on the chairs. I was very impressed.
These balloons decorate the stairs leading up to the chapel.
We were shown a video about now judging others, Sister Darshani spoke about personal hygiene and then a video they put together about being mothers using pictures of Sisters in the District. It was very touching.
Brother Sunneli spoke to the sisters. He is such a kind man.
After being fed spiritually it was time to start the birthday party. We sang Happy Birthday and everyone was given cake. They even sprayed silly string.
Next each Branch had to do some sort of program. Some did skits and some did dances.
The lady you see in this picture is portraying a tuk tuk driver. She was so cute as she drove the sisters visiting teaching. Ken and I were in this skit so I didn't get pictures of us. We were with five others being naughty children. Our mother had her visiting teachers at her home but they just wanted to give the lesson and not help her with the children. We were play fighting with each other but the best part was when Ken tapped his belly and cried, "Mom, I'm hungry get me some food!" She told him no and then he fell on the floor and started crying. Everyone just busted up laughing. They need no translation on that.
These two are doing a cute dance. Notice the shirt has I Love SL (that doesn't mean Salt Lake) 😉
These Sisters really know how to dance. Everyone danced and it didn't matter the age.
Even the young sisters had to show off their dancing skills.
Here the sisters are playing in a band while the other sisters dance. The skits reminded me of the skits we would do at girls camp. They were hilarious!
More dancing.
After all the skits they gave each sister a nice journal. We were then fed a huge meal with more dancing at the end. They even had a DJ playing music. One of the best Relief Society Birthday Party ever!
That evening we were invited to share dinner with Elder and Sister Lathen who are celebrating their 45 anniversary. We had dinner at Kingsbury.
This is one table of the salads that they had. Another side had meats and vegetables.
Of course there has to be a dessert bar. Everything tasted so yummy!
This is the entrance to Kingsbury. Not sure how many dozen of roses but I was lucky enough to have one given to me.
Along the walls they have these big kings chairs. Makes everyone look pretty small.
After two parties we were ready to sit in this big chair.
