Eighteen Bend Adventure!

This morning we headed out to Mahiyanganaya which is 78 km (49 miles) from our house. Doesn't sound too bad, but in a three wheeler it will take us 3 hours. We are going to Mahiyanganaya to teach English at Sister Sarojani's moms house. First stop was gassing up the vehicle.

View from petrol (gas) station.

Next stop was getting a snack, corn on the cob.

This is how they cook their corn along the road.

Brother Shantha holding the hot corn.

Me eating it!
Corn isn't as sweet as in the US.

Other people along the way stopping to eat corn.

As we travel to Mahiyanganaya there are 18 bends or switch backs. They mark each one.

Some beautiful scenery along the way.

It's a good thing I wasn't riding in a car or bus. I probably would be car sick.

Look at all the people who showed up to English class!

The room was packed!

Even the parents participated.

Photo after class.
What a surprise to us to have over 32 kids and parents!

Sister Sarojani's mom, sister, brother and kids.
We had a great time!
Thanks for inviting us! We hope to get back soon.

On the way back Sister Sarojani wanted to pick some jungle fruit.

She and Brother Shantha worked together to get some down to eat.

After all that work the fruit was too sour, not ripe enough.

Stop to stretch our legs and get a photo.
It was a great day!
Tired of riding but fun!
