Baptism Day!

Today this sweet family was baptized. Milika, Kumudu (mother), Amami, and Indika (father). Little Devia has to wait until she is eight.

COME UNTO ME
and be baptized in my name,
That he may receive
A remission of your sins,
And be filled with
The Holy Ghost.
3 Nephi 30:2

Some art work from yesterday's Open House.

The artist who drew this picture is only 10 years old.
He has over 40 birds that he takes care of.

The gal that drew the picture of an angel is 14 years old.
Good Sabbath Day!

Missionary Open House!

Today we had a Missionary Open House at our church.

We had people bring some of their art work and crafts.

We showed videos about Jesus Christ.

Some beautiful displays.

We also showed the Book of Mormon movie.

The Relief Society Sisters and Elders Quorum drew pictures to go along with the Articles of Faith.

A pretty good turn out!

The children colored and drew pictures for us to hang up.

Busy drawing.

After videos, artwork, and visiting we had lunch.
We had about 60 people show up. Eleven were interested about the church. The Elders were able to make some appointments.
A successful Open House!

Pitter Patter!

Pitter patter, pitter patter
See the raindrops fall
Falling one by one.

How many raindrops make a storm?

One little raindrop?
no, no, no
Two little raindrops?
no, no, no
Three little raindrops?
no, no, no

Millions of raindrops make a storm
Billions of raindrops make a storm

Pitter, patter, pitter, patter
See the raindrops fall
Falling one by one.
Another rainy day. Followed these policemen on the motorbike for awhile on our way to visit a family.
We love the rain!

Wednesday Wonders!

This morning we woke up to fog. They call it gloomy.

A couple of pictures from our apartment before leaving to teach at the University.
Today one of the students told me she liked to sing. I said, "I do too!" She then asked if I would sing her a song. So, I sang the "Hello" song from Primary, but changed a few words.
Hello, hello, hello, hello,
I welcome you today, hello.
Hello, hello, hello, hello.
I'm glad you came my way.
To get to know you here today
And be my friend in a very special way.
Hello, hello, hello, hello.
I'm glad you came today!
Well, I got asked three times to sing!
What a fun time for me!

After English class at the church we walked out to see a beautiful rainbow after the afternoon showers.

Very nice!

If you look closely there's another light rainbow to the right.

Whenever I see rainbows I always think of my dad.

Let's me know that he is near and how families are forever!

Beautiful sunset as we walked home.

Teddy Bear Treats!

Tonight at Sister Kumudus she made us hot milk and Teddy Bears. The Teddy Bears are like small scones in the shape of teddy bears. Very tasty!
Had a good lesson and visit with the family.

Have a good day!

Eighteen Bend Adventure!

This morning we headed out to Mahiyanganaya which is 78 km (49 miles) from our house. Doesn't sound too bad, but in a three wheeler it will take us 3 hours. We are going to Mahiyanganaya to teach English at Sister Sarojani's moms house. First stop was gassing up the vehicle.

View from petrol (gas) station.

Next stop was getting a snack, corn on the cob.

This is how they cook their corn along the road.

Brother Shantha holding the hot corn.

Me eating it!
Corn isn't as sweet as in the US.

Other people along the way stopping to eat corn.

As we travel to Mahiyanganaya there are 18 bends or switch backs. They mark each one.

Some beautiful scenery along the way.

It's a good thing I wasn't riding in a car or bus. I probably would be car sick.

Look at all the people who showed up to English class!

The room was packed!

Even the parents participated.

Photo after class.
What a surprise to us to have over 32 kids and parents!

Sister Sarojani's mom, sister, brother and kids.
We had a great time!
Thanks for inviting us! We hope to get back soon.

On the way back Sister Sarojani wanted to pick some jungle fruit.

She and Brother Shantha worked together to get some down to eat.

After all that work the fruit was too sour, not ripe enough.

Stop to stretch our legs and get a photo.
It was a great day!
Tired of riding but fun!
