Monday's English Class!

Here are a few of our students that we get to teach English to on Mondays. We have so much fun with them!

Baptism Day for Samantha!

Samantha decided to get baptised Sunday. He is here with his sweet wife Vinimi and her parents and Sister. Also Elder Jaysinghe and Elder Karunarathne.  What makes this baptism special is Samantha and his wife are deaf. It is a good thing they can read lips so the Elders could teach him. We have been down loading materials for him in sign langauage. It is so neat to see his face light up when we are singing and he can watch it in sign language. ASL is a little different for him but he is learning. Sure love this family!

After church today we had a young single adult activity. We ate lunch, showed the video about Spiritual Crocodiles and the played UNO. A great day being with these kids!

Congratulations Chrish & Sam!

Chrish and Sam had their wedding celebration Saturday. Chrish is working in Abu Dhabi and Sam was going to school in Alabama. They met on line and are now getting married. Chrish's mom is living here in Sri Lanka so that is why the marriage took place here. Sam is originally from Buhl, Idaho. His mother and 5 brothers were able to come to be with them for their special day.

After the wedding ceremony the bride leaves and comes back in a red dress. Traditionally it is a week after the wedding but she changed into her dress before they left to go to their honeymoon suite.

We had a wonderful time visiting and meeting new people. We even danced a little. We wish them the best of luck on their new adventures.

Welcome to Kandy!

Elder and Sister  Bradshaw visited Kandy. They arrived Friday afternoon from Colombo. They are busy serving in Colombo, Negombo and Chilaw. We are so grateful to be able to serve with them!

Sister Shusila and Kumari. Sister Shusila rode with us to help translate at some of the homes we visited. We really appreciated her help. We met Sister Kumari for the first time. She just moved into a home that's not far from us. She speaks very good English.

Hi Chews!

I haven't had hi chews for 10 months. I think my body went into a sugar fit. The family from Idaho brought them and shared them with us.

Dosai!

Look how big these things are! Mine is onion and cheese.

Ken ordered mushroom and cheese.

Dosai is a type of pancake from the Indian subcontinent, made from fermented batter. It is somewhat similar to a crepe in appearance. We should have shared one because they are soooooo big. They tasted pretty good, for a type of pancake.

The restaurant is close to our apartment and has only been open a few months.

Met this family from Buhl, Idaho! Their brother is getting married on Saturday.

Oh No!

Yesterday on our visits Elder Luke was helping pull down the branch to get some of the fruit, little guavas. He pulled just a little too hard and brought the whole branch down. He felt very bad but Sister Kalyoni told him it was ok.

Today we had to go visit our next group of people who want to go to the Philippines Temple. We have to start all over again and needed their signatures. We are still hopeful to get them there.

On our travels we had to stop while a man cuts the tree that fell over the road.
