The whole time we were in Sri Lanka Ken has been looking for crocodiles.
Today we found some pretty cute ones!
First we started with an All-You-Can-Eat breakfast!
Then we visited Crocodile Adventureland!
Crocodiles are the largest living reptile.
The largest and longest crocodile ever caught early in the century was at Matang, Perak in 1915 measuring 27 feet.
Crocodiles can be seen basking in the sun which on its own is a method of regulating body temperature, but they also open their mouths in a behavior called "gaping".
Both of these actions help allow the animal to keep a stable 77 degrees internal body temperature.
It has been speculated that these animals keep their mouths open to reduce the risk of a fungal infection by allowing the mouth to dry out.
Basking also aids in digestion for crocodiles as it helps increase the metabolic rate as opposed to when the animal is in colder conditions the metabolic rate is slow.
No matter the type of crocodile the male is always larger.
Feeding time for the crocodiles.
They put chicken out for the crocodiles to jump up and eat.
Some brave trainers. This one is kissing the crocodile.
One calming the croc while the other walks on his back.
Sitting and posing with the croc!
Now let's just put our whole arm in his mouth!!!!!
Be careful!!!!!!
Some pretty flowers.
Souvineer shops.
We made it out without spending too much money!
Back to the sandy beach!
The kids made a great sand castle fit for a crab.
Cooling off with a cool strawberry slushy!
Time for the pool and more sliding!
For dinner we went to the fish restaurant!
So very good! We had snapper! It was so fresh and good!
Do you like my hat?
Ava shared her new hat with us as we walked along the beach.
