A Saree Kind of Day!

This morning I decided to wear one of the sarees to church.
❤Sure love my mission companion!❤

I also received a birthday card from Kenna, Aaron, Parker, Macey, and Addi.
🍨Thanks guys!🎂

The girls want me to take some Sarees home. I have enough for each of them one. Which do you like the best?
One saree,

Two sarees,

Purple saree,

Black saree.

This one has a little blue,

This one has a lot of pink.
I'm not sure which is my favorite,
What do you think?

Saree, sari or Shari is a women's garment from the Indian subcontinent that consists of a drape varying from five to nine yards in length and two to four feet in breadth that is typically wrapped around the waist, with one end draped over the shoulder, baring the midriff. (I don't bare the midriff😉).
If you are a teacher or work in a bank, every lady wears a saree. Think about all that material my teacher friends. Very hard to move around.

Fingers!

Look at these cute fingers!
Today we visited a lady in the hospital. We held hands for along time. She didn't want to let go when we had to leave. Grateful for hands and fingers to clasp.
She has been sick for along time. The Doctors are trying to get things figured out for her. Such a blessing for her to have been able to go to the Manila Temple last February. If she didn't go then she probably would have been too sick to go now.

Fingers are good for eating and giving thumbs up signs!

After our visits we stopped to watch this cricket game. I don't understand it but it is very popular here in Sri Lanka.

Ken bought a new coat today. Hard to imagine that he might need it next year. Today with the temperature reaching 82 degrees, he was hot trying coats on.
I think it looks very nice!

Listening to the Spirit!

Our day first started with this snake.
Good thing Brother Shantha is a snake charmer!

The cat found the snake first. The snake was being defeated by the cat.
Brother Shantha went down and helped the snake escape by throwing him back in the woods.

After our snake adventure we weren't sure who we were going to visit.
First stop was a sister who has been sick. We were able to visit her and see that she was doing much better.
Next stop was Sister Kalyani. She wanted to prepare something for us to eat.

She and her niece made noodles and eggs.

The noodles were very tasty!

For an added treat she scraped fresh coconut for us to eat.
It looks like cottage cheese but it is coconut.
Yummy!
Last on our list to visit was a family we haven't seen for many months.
Went we went the the house we were warmly greeted and found out that the husband was in the hospital.
We then headed to the hospital to visit him.
He is doing much better and asked Elder Luke to give him a blessing.
We are so glad we listened to the spirit of who to go and visit today.
It was a GOOD day!

Lighting the candles.

I made a chocolate chip banana cake.
Didn't taste too bad if I say so myself.

Tradition of sharing the cake.

Open wide Elder Luke!

Yummy for Nethu!

Take a bite Chethu!

Nimeshi gets her bite too!

Even Nalaka gets a bite.
Then we had more treats, chocolate cake, vegetable rolls, egg buns and soda.
Thanks for a very lovely evening!

Turn the Other CHEEK!

Love this thought!

The choice is simple, will I choose to be offended? Or will I choose to keep my covenants? It is one or the other. We can not stay offended at Priesthood leaders and keep our covenants.

On the topic of taking offense, I refer to Brigham Young, who taught. “He who takes offense when no offense is intended is a fool, and he who takes offense when offense is intended is a greater fool.”

Happy birthday Ammami!

This is Ammami!
Today is her thirteenth birthday.
What a cute girl!

Fun decorations for a special day!

Two cakes, one chocolate and the other rainbow.

Waiting for the party to start.

First piece of cake goes to mom.

Next dad.

Then grandma.

With the rest of us to follow.

Yummy food was served.
Sandwiches, cutlets, bananas, marshmallows and kisses.

Ice cream sodas!

Yummy for our tummies!

Even grandma enjoyed the food and party!
We had a terrific day!
