Like, Don't Like!

English class tonight we talked about why we like and don't like things.

I like Amamee, Apoorvi, Methsara, Anuka, Deviya, Kumudu

Rebekah and Shantha because they are so kind!  

I don't like chili paste because it is spicy hot.

I do like roti because it tastes good!

I like jelly (Jello) because it tastes so sweet.

Sister Rebekah asked her dad for a puppy. Can you believe he said, "no!"

I like puppies because they are so cute and fluffy!

I don't like all of these caterpillars because they are creepy and crawly!

So many of them are on the steps because of all the rain. Ewwww!!

One, Two, Three, Four!

We had a fun night teaching English to these four girls. We are writing and drawing about things we like to do in the morning, afternoon, evening and at night. They are better at speaking English than I am speaking Sinhala.

We are truly blessed to be around such wonderful people!

Find Joy In The Journey!

The Birds!

This morning we had so many birds outside our house. You can see a few of the crow's. There were also red, yellow and blue birds. They were just too fast to get their picture.

What the birds were doing was eating bugs for breakfast. The bugs were also flying around and the birds would swoop down and eat them.

If you look close at the top there is a gecko. Sister Sarana is feeding it a bug. 

On the way home stopped at the market for watermelon, pineapple, and bananas. The pink fruit is called Dragon Fruit. Had a sample taste but don't really like it. Hardly any taste.

Mmm mmm! Pumpkin soup!

Today our housecleaning lady taught me how to make pumpkin soup. 

It was easier than I thought and tasted so good!

I think I can make this on my own.

On our visit today we stopped at a home where they are making a water fountain. This was the cool tile they put up.

Myron and his wife are taking part of their home and making a bed and breakfast. They have worked very hard and it will be a very nice place to stay.

Myron is from Utah. They are heading back to the state's next week and should be there for about 6 weeks. We will miss them while they are away.

Stopped by this pre-school today. Sister Sandya owns and teaches here.

It is above their home. She has 2 helpers with about 30 students. They are on break right now for about 3 weeks. She invied md to come one day. I think I will go since I miss being with Mrs. Marshall and Ms. Aubrey.

What a wonderful view for their home and the pre-school. Also above the pre-school they have built a gym for others to use. They are quite the business men/women.

Our last visit of the day was with Sister Somawatti and Jagath. We are so excited for them. Jagath is going to go to the temple to be sealed to his mother and deceased father. What a great day it will be for them!

Alms!

We were invited to a families alms. Dilani, the lady we rent from, invited us to share the day her mother passed away. It has been 25 years ago. 

Alms is when the family gets together to pray and remember the people who have died. 

Here they are preparing the food for Buddha and the Monks. 

This is Lesli, he is Dilani's father. They are taking the food to Buddha and getting ready to pray.

As we learn about different cultures we find there is so much good in all. We really liked how they serve one another. Also, how they give to others.

After going to their temple they go home and eat more food. We were able to get some of the good Sri Lankan food.

Triplets!

We stopped by to see our Branch President's babies. 

Aren't they just so cute!

Two girls and one boy.

They are three months old.

The boy was born first, little girl on left next and the little one on the right last. Even before they were born the brother was between the sisters. He is going to protect his sisters as they grow, I bet!

This is President Kumara and his sweet wife Padma They have waited for 10 years to have these babies. What a miracle for them and now a busy adventure. They are going to be good parents!

We sure love your family!
