On The Road Again!

This morning we left to go back to Kandy. We had Kumar drive us back. We were going to stop and see Elder and Sister Lee but they had another appointment so we went straight to Kandy. On the way we stopped to eat lunch at this restaurant.  Here are a few pictures.

These two mothers have missionary sons serving in Sri Lanka. Elder Jaysinghe's mom and Elder Abeythunga's mom. They are sure proud of their sons.

Sunday in Colombo!

We were able to go to both Branches for church today. It was fun to visit with people we haven't seen in months. A young girl, 8 years old, bore her testimony of the Book of Mormon.  It reaffirmed to me how important it it to; 1. Pray Everyday 2. Read the scriptures (especially the Book of Mormon) everyday, and 3. Attend church. That is how you grow and learn. Simple but we make it so hard.

I shared this quote with the Missionaries on Tuesday. It is one of my favorites from Elder Holland!

Happy Star Wars Day!

We had a great 4th!

Started out getting things ready for Sunday. We are going to be in Colombo this Sunday and needed the Elders help in getting videos ready for Priesthood and Relief Society lessons. We are having them show the Restoration video so we met at the church to have them practice setting up the tvs. We have been able to get the videos in Singalese along with the conference talks. They sure enjoy it when we have things in their first language. Many know English but its harder for them. Our focus this month is on the Restoration. It is a good review for us.

 

It was another rainy day. After doing our errands we spent the rest of the day inside cleaning the apartment, relaxing and enjoying the rain with thunder and lightening.

 

Some pictures of the beauty here in Kandy. It always amazes me how they build their homes on rocks. The Wiseman builds his house upon the rocks! Love the red flowers!

These two ladies made us some mango chutney. Chutney is a sauce used in Indian cuisines. We ate ours with some chicken. Most of the people eat it with rice. Nice flavor with some hot spices.

I've been a very lucky gal. 😎We have been blessed for 39 years with wonderful children and their spouses, and grandchildren. 😍Everyday is an adventure when you're married to this guy! 😉Here's to many more adventures! 🤗

Called To Serve!

Sister Mortensen sent us the picture with the Prophet. What a wonderful day to be with the Prophet and some great people!

Tuesday's we have our District Missionary Meeting. Today we all met in Colombo. Of course after the meeting we have to eat.

Elder Jaysinghe and Elder Karunarathne (District Leader) are in Kandy.

Elder Alaguretnam and Elder Abeythunga serve in Colombo and Negombo. 

Sister Jayarathne and Sister Basthiyan serve in Colombo.

My companion Elder Luke. We are in Kandy but get to go where we are needed. So for a while we are also in Colombo and Negombo .

We enjoyed our meeting together. The rest of the day we spent working on Visas. I wonder if we will ever get it right! 🤔
