Terrific Thursday!

Early Father's Day card! It's amazing how some mail takes weeks and this letter arrived in a week.

Busy day so we stopped by Burger King for a quick bite. Chicken nuggets and fries are a treat. They also serve yummy ice cream! (Ken took this picture of me with my mouth full of food).
Stopped by 2 families homes today. I'm forgetting to take pictures. We had great discussions with both families.

Happy Birthday Trevor!

😀Trev holding his baby sister Kenna.☺
It's hard to believe that it's been 36 years ago since you were born. 🤔How did you catch up to me and your dad. 😉 Funny how that works. 😊Thanks for being a great son, brother, husband and father. 😎Sure do love you!😍

Look what we got today. Rambutans! Our driver, Kumar, grows them in his backyard. We were lucky that he shared them with us. Can't wait to eat them.

The rambutan (/ræmˈbuːtən/, taxonomic name: Nephelium lappaceum) is a medium-sized tropical tree in the family Sapindaceae. The name also refers to the edible fruit produced by this tree. The rambutan is native to the Malay-Indonesian region, and other regions of tropical Southeast Asia.

Relief Society Celebration!

This morning we started out going to the Colombo Hilton Hotel.

We enjoyed the view before meeting Brother Bernard Pang for breakfast. He lives in Hong Kong and is over the Asia Area finances. He happened to be in Colombo this week and is helping us with some of the finances that we get to do now that Elder Lathen is home.
(Thanks Elder Lathen! 😉)

They Relief Society Sisters really know how to celebrate!

Wonderful decorations!

Fun skits!

Demonstrations, talks about being good missionaries and visiting with friends.

Also, the food is great! Start with cake and juice. Then have lunch after the meeting.

After eating they enjoy dancing. There were probably close to 200 people that attended.

Had to show off the Saree today.

The demonstration today was how to make these items. They are made out of old newspapers.  I am going to have to learn how to make them.

Bus heading back to Kandy without us. We need to stay in Colombo one more day to work with Brother Pang.
What a wonderful day being with the Sisters in Sri Lanka!

Monday Blessings! - May 28, 2018

Monday mornings we get get to Skype some of our family. What a wonderful blessing this is for us.

It was a rainy Monday. Today we ended up not having to go to the University. So we took the time to do some of our errands before going to Colombo.

First on our list was the bank.

Then we tried to find a CO Detector but couldn't find one.
Next we stopped by the post office to pick up a package but the people we needed to see were in meetings until 12:00. So we headed home to eat lunch and get our luggage.

On our way to the train station we stopped back at the post office. First stop they looked at our message and had us go to another room.

They looked through some packages but ours wasn't there. So they sent us to another room.

Third times the charm. We got our package!

Thanks kids! We love the pictures and Mother's Day cards!
It was fun to look at them while we were on the train.

Thanks dear!

Talking to the kids tonight which is their Sunday morning!

The girls had a sleep over at Kennas!  Oh what fun!
Sure love them!

Made It Back to Kandy!

We made it back to Kandy safe and sound.  Yesterday I saw this map and took a picture of it. It shows some of the places to go and visit.

So far we have been to;
Galle
Beruwala
Colombo
Airport
Pinnawela
Negombo
Kandy
Sigiriya
Anuradhapura
Not too bad! Still many more places to visit.

Negombo! - May 25, 2018

Made it to Negombo! Visited with Sherantha and his family. What a great family. She made fresh lemonade for us. It tasted so good. The Bradshaws are lucky to meet Sherantha. He is a driver and knows so many people around Negombo and Chilaw.

Looking at different places for more missionaries.

We looked at three places that might be good for a senior couple. The apartment that Elder and Sister Lee stayed at may now become the apartment for the Elders. Still working out the details.

After stopping by the Negombo Church we were hungry. Found a great place to eat fish.

This is my grilled fish with peppers, salad and French fries. The fish was so good.

After we are our lunch we walked over to the beach.

Very beautiful!

That evening we were able to go to a play put on by Somme people we know in the Branch.

This is their home school group. They have been practicing for months.

We were so glad that we were in Colombo tho see them preform. They did a great job!

After the performance we had them sign our programs.

It was a great day!
