I had someone ask me how Kandy got it's name. This is what I found out.
The citadel of Kandyan Kingdom is a plateau surrounded by mountains. During the colonial era, people called this area as Kanda in Sinhala, which means mountains.
Foreigners had a hard time pronouncing Kanda and pronounced it Kandy. The name stuck and this area is now known as Kandy.
Today we helped a young sister finish filling out her mission papers. She is hoping to go this summer. We are excited for her and this new adventure she is going to take.
