"Because Of Him" - Day 31

John 19:38-41

38 ¶ And after this Joseph of Arimathæa, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
39 And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.

Today we had our Open House. We had about 75 people show up. We didn't think that was too bad considering this was the first one.

Primary children coloring in between singing.
We served cake and soda. Some cute servers!

Poster for those interested in doing family history.

We shared some videos of Jesus Christ.

People love watching videos of Jesus Christ and seeing the miracles he preformed .

This is outside on the patio. A great place to eat and visit.

More videos.

Socializing.

Our welcoming committee.

Primary coloring some more.

The video being shown is where a woman is healed by touching Jesus's clothes.

Enjoying one another's company.

A beautiful day for a gathering just before Easter.

Being served cake and soda.

Working on their pictures.

Just chillin!

We appreciate all the hard work and help from so many people. We were excited to see so many friends come. We are so grateful for Our Savior Jesus Christ and what He has done for us all. May we each remember Him at this time of year and have a wonderful Easter!

"Because Of Him" - Day 30

Luke 23:34

"Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."

One last day to clean and get ready for the Open House tomorrow.

Thanks Elders for helping today.

"Because Of Him" - Day 29

Matthew 26:39

"And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."

Today we visited a sweet couple, Sister Shanthi and her husband Brother Weershigha. We forgot to take a picture with them though. Just means we have to go back and visit them.
They bought us each a soda.

It actually tasted so good. Today was very hot so the cold drink was very refreshing.

After visiting with them we started to walk back to the church house. Here is what traffic looks like when school is out.

It is very crowded on the streets. We try to avoid the roads between 1:00 and 2:30.

"Because Of Him" - Day 28

John 12:12-13
12 ¶ On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

What can we do to honor Christ?

Had to take a picture of the beautiful sunset tonight on our walk home. The weather has been very hot but today we got some relief with a rain storm.

We spent most of the day at the church arranging things for our Open House. The humidity is so bad that Elder Luke can soak his shirt with his sweat. I've never seen him sweat so much. Good thing he likes drinking water.
We also had our English class tonight. It is so fun to watch them learn English.

"Because Of Him" - Day 27

Luke 18:17

"Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein."

We started our day with a District Meeting. We always enjoy getting together with the other Elders. We share scriptures and learn from one another. Then we plan what we need to do for the week. After the meeting we went out to lunch at KFC. That's right! Kentucky Fried Chicken right here in Kandy.
After eating we came back to the church to hang more pictures and decorate some more for our Open House.

Sister Iroma stopped by to make some flower arrangements for me. She is standing in front of the pulpit by one of her arrangements. She did a fantastic job!

Here's an arrangement with an Angel Moroni statue.

This is what you see when you first walk through the front doors to the church.

This arrangement is on a shelf going up the stairs.

This is what it looks like looking down the stairs. A big thanks to Sister Iroma for taking the time to make the flower arrangements!

"Because Of Him" - Day 26

Luke 22:48
"But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?"
How can Christ's example of love and compassion in the midst of betrayal, trial, and mistreatment help you through hard times of your own?

Here in Sri Lanka they have many fruits and vegetables. One vegetable that is plentiful and cheap is cabbage. So I looked online for a new cabbage recipe, Southern Bacon-fried Cabbage. It had good reviews and we had all the ingredients so I decided to gave it a try. Well some new recipes work and some don't. This is on my don't list. (Sorry to those that like it.) So when all else fails we eat ice-cream! Yum!!!!!

"Because Of Him" - Day 25

Luke 22:19-20
19 ¶ And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

This is our Kandy Branch Primary today. I'm standing in the back with the Primary President and her counselor.

We are practicing "I Am  Child of God" and "Army of Helaman" to present at our Open House this Saturday.

After church we met this family. They are interested in the church. It's a family of 5 daughters. Four of them were born on the same day! What a special treat to meet them and feel their love one to another.

We were served Anodha (a fruit drink) which was the best we have tasted so far.

The eldest daughter showed us some of her creations. She has decorated her room with colorful origami.

I loved the butterflies that she made. She is teaching me how to fold them. I actually made one and it didn't look too bad.

Her flower arrangement.

Beautiful house that she made.

Butterflies all over her wall.

Turtle made out of a paper plate.

Elder Luke's favorite, Eyore.

Some more flowers. These are just some of the things that she has made. She is very talented young lady.

On the way home we saw some Kandyan Dancers heading to their temple.

It is so fun to watch them dance. Behind them there are people who follow that are going to the temple.

They have such beautiful moves.
We had a great Sabbath Day!
